In 1942, the United States and many European countries applied all of their economic and industrial resources toward fighting World War II. Like all other American manufacturers, Ford Motor Company ceased its extensive automobile development, producing military vehicles to support Americans involved in the war. Ford did, however, produce a small number of vehicle models during 1942 for domestic use. All of these 1942 Ford models were produced using seven colors; two existing colors and five new options.
Black-9000

Black was the most common color for early automobiles. All previous Ford models were produced with a finished black-9000 option. The identifying code for this paint color is black-246-020.
Florentine Blue-10029

Florentine blue-10029 was an existing and popular paint option for Ford vehicles in past years, also available in 1942 models. Florentine blue was created by combining white-246-0097, black-246-020, ramapo blue-246-059 and dark red oxide-246-031.
Niles Blue Green-40026

Niles blue green-40026 was the brightest and most contemporary color offered on Ford models in 1942. Niles blue green-40026 was fashioned using white-246-0097, g chrome oxide green-246-0751, black-246-020 and ferrite yellow-246-064.
Fathom Blue-10096

Fathom blue-10096 was a deeper, darker, almost blue-black option, first introduced in 1942. Fathom blue-10096 was designed using: red-toned blue-246-056, white-246-0097, mm medium red maroon-246-0376 and black-246-020.
New Castle Gray-30037

In 1942, Ford offered a lighter variation in gray paint. New castle gray-30037 was a new shade of gray created by combining white-246-0097, black-246-020, ferrite yellow-246-064 and light green-246-070.
Village Green-40101

Village green-40101 was a newer darker shade of green available on existing Ford models in 1942. This deep green was invented using: black-246-020, white-246-0097, light green-246-070 and milori blue-246-051.
Phoebe Gray Metallic-30038

In 1942, Ford also introduced a metallic paint option named the Phoebe gray metallic-30038. Phoebe gray-30038 was comprised of black-246-020, white-246-0097, ramapo blue-246-059, light red oxide-246-0895 and metallic base-202-082.
