How to Remove the Knobs From a Kenmore Front Loading Washer

Kenmore brand front-loading washers are available online, in select department stores and in a number of appliance or home retail stores. The washers have a variety of cycles and features, including different temperature and timing cycles. Removing the knobs from a Kenmore front-loading washer may be necessary if there are problems with the timer or other issues. However, there are a few steps involved to removing these knobs that will require access to the back of the washer. Ask for assistance in moving the washer if the unit is too heavy to move alone.

  Turn off the washer and unplug it from the power supply. Pull the Kenmore washer away from the wall.

  Remove the screws from the back access panel with a Phillips-head screwdriver, then remove the access panel.

  Locate a round shaft in the center of the motor assembly. Use a small screwdriver to pull the shaft out toward the back of the unit.

  Push on the dial once the plastic shaft is pulled out in the back and turn the dial counter-clockwise.

  Squeeze the indicator locking tabs with a pair of pliers while pulling out the dial.
