Hybridcenter has compiled a list of incentives for the purchase of a hybrid vehicle, by state, including available tax incentives. Though Nevada does not offer any tax incentives available toward the purchase of a hybrid vehicle as of 2010, it does offer several other incentives for those interested in or already driving hybrid vehicles. However, Nevada citizens are eligible for federal hybrid tax incentives.
Hybrid Taxi Use Extention
-
As of 2010, Nevada permits the use of hybrid vehicles as taxicabs for 24 months longer than previously permitted. The law used to allow a new vehicle to operate as a taxi for 67 months, or for 55 months for vehicles purchased from a previous owner but with less than 30,000 miles.
Emissions Exemptions
-
As of 2010, the Nevada counties of Clark and Washoe do not enforce testing for compliance with emissions standards for hybrid vehicles five years old or less.
Federal Plug-In Hybrid Tax Credit
-
The America Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 modified a tax credit until December 31, 2011, for plug-in electric-drive vehicles. Ranging between $2,500 and $7,500, the credit applies to vehicles with four or more wheels and a gross weight rating of less than 14,000 lbs. The vehicle must draw propulsion using a battery with at least four kilowatt hours that allows for recharging from an external source of electricity.
Federal Hybrid Plug-In Hybrid Conversion Tax Credit
-
The America Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 also provided a credit, extending to December 31, 2011, for vehicles converted with a plug-in electric drive conversion kit. The credit equals 10 percent of the conversion cost, with a maximum amount of $4,000.
