What Is a Baghouse Filter?

Baghouse filters are industrial-strength filters used to collect dust and particles to prevent air pollution. Baghouses consist of a series of fabric bags strategically placed upside down to catch and hold any particles. (See References 1 and 2)
  • Purpose

    • A number of industries requiring some method of air pollution control use baghouse filters. Examples include pharmaceutical manufacturers, chemical plants, food producers and steel mills. (See reference 1)

    Advantages

    • This type of filter is extremely efficient at removing dust and other suspended particles. In addition, baghouse filters come in a variety of sizes and are suitable for almost any application needed. They are also durable and cost-effective. (See References 1 and 2)

    Types

    • The two primary types of baghouse filters are compact baghouses and large physical area baghouses. Though the design varies among different manufacturers, compact baghouses have a large cloth area in the smallest space possible. Large physical area baghouses accommodate larger particles and have larger drop-out chambers. (See reference 1)
