CD Burning Options for Red Hat

  Red Hat Enterprise is one of the many distributions of the Linux kernel. Red Hat Linux was popular in the 1990s, and since the early 2000s split into Red Hat Enterprise, designed for use in business environments, and Fedora, the free version designed for home use. In Linux, you need to use a CD burning program to burn CDs.

K3b

• When you use Linux, you can choose what desktop environment you wish to use. If you are using the KDE desktop environment, then you can use K3b--the desktop environment's CD/DVD burning software suite. The program allows you to burn music and data CDs, data and video DVDs, disc images and copy CDs and DVDs. It can also rip CDs and DVDs to your hard drive. K3b can also save burn program you just executed, so you can burn duplicate CDs without having to set up the files for burning again. The program itself is included in most standard KDE installations.

Gnome Baker

• If you use the GNOME desktop environment in your linux system, then Gnome Baker is an option for you. The program itself integrates into the desktop environment itself to a large degree, allowing an intuitive method of adding files to the burn list. Gnome Baker can burn data CDs, DVDs, disc images from ISO files, blank CD-RWs, and burn audio CDs. Like K3b, Gnome Baker has the ability to save the files it just burned to a CD as a project, so you can burn replica discs without having to set-up the files again.

Brasero

• Brasero, also for GNOME environments, is a simpler CD burning utility than Gnome Baker. It does not integrate with a desktop environment but runs as a standalone program. Brasero can burn data and audio CDs, data and video DVDs, disc images and audio CDs. Like Gnome Baker, it cannot rip CD or DVD contents to your hard drive and includes the ability to save projects. Brasero has the advantage of being a straight forward and simple utility, whereas Gnome Baker has many more complex features for advanced users.
