Thread two 3/4-inch steel T-fittings into a 24-inch piece of threaded steel pipe. When assembled, this section should lay flat on the ground with the T-fittings facing in the same direction. Use two pipe wrenches to tighten all the steel fittings in this project.
- 2
Thread a 1-inch steel nipple into the other end of the T-fittings, Then attach a 45-degree threaded elbow to each. Attach a 6-inch piece of steel pipe into the end of each of the 45-degree elbows. When completed, this portion of the assembly should lay flat on the ground with the two T-fittings at 90 degrees to the ground facing skyward.
- 3
Attach two 90-degree elbows to a 4-inch section of threaded steel pipe. Tighten the assembly so that it makes a "U" shape and they lay flat on the ground.
- 4
Thread a 3-inch and a 5-inch section of threaded steel pipe into a T-fitting. Attach a 6-inch section of threaded steel pipe into the open end of the T-fitting and tighten.
- 5
Slide a 6-inch piece of 3/4-inch pipe wrap foam onto each of the 6-inch steel nipples. This will protect the door when you use the pull-up workout station.
- 6
Attach the last two sections together making a "J" shape when completed. The T-section should be at 90 degrees to the ground with the 6-inch threaded steel pipe facing the sky.
- 7
Repeat the last two steps for the opposite side. However, this side will be reversed, making a backwards "J" when completed.
- 8
Attach the two "J" sections to the section made in step two and tighten them together. The 6-inch steel nipples should be covered with the foam insulation face out.
- 9
Paint the pull-up work station if desired. The new pull-up work station is now ready to be used.

DIY Pull Up Station
A do-it-yourself pull-up work station is a great way to work out the upper body at home. Pull-ups strengthen the upper body by working the back, arms and chest all at the same time. The do-it-yourself handyman can make his own personal pull-up work station with just a few hand tools and some 3/4-inch steel pipes and fittings in about an hour or so.
