A computer projector can be a useful tool to broadcast information through the computer screen to an entire room full of people. But before considering this as your primary display output source, understand that there are a number of drawbacks to using a projector compared to using a traditional computer monitor.
Sharpness
-
In general, a projector display will not be as pixel-precise as an equivalent LCD monitor. This is due to the nature of the projector itself, which can only create an approximation of the display to be broadcast onto a moving screen.
Visibility
-
Visibility will also suffer when using a computer projector. Unlike a regular monitor, which will often be unaffected by ambient changes in lighting throughout the room, the projector screen will be so affected that it will require a carefully controlled room in terms of lighting in order to maximize viewing potential.
Refresh
-
The refresh rate (the number of times that the image is redisplayed onscreen per second) for a projector will often be lower than that for a comparable monitor, making display of fast moving images such as movies and games look slightly distorted than on a traditional monitor.
