The Toyota Tercel is a subcompact car manufactured from 1978 to 2000. Offering the car in the form of a three- or five-door hatchback, four-door sedan, or five-door station wagon, Toyota boasted that the Tercel had the "largest interior of any subcompact."

    • The Tercel was manufactured in Japan, where it was known as the Toyota Corsa. The 1985 Tercel was part of the model's second generation, which ran from 1982 to 1986.

    • The 1985 Tercel was offered with a 1.5-liter, inline four-cylinder engine rated at 62 horsepower. The transmission was either a three-speed automatic, or a choice among four-speed, five-speed or six-speed manuals.     4WD

    • An interesting optional feature of second generation of Toyota Tercels was a four wheel drive (4WD) mode. However, the front and rear axles of the vehicle were locked together, so it was only meant to be engaged on dirt, snow or otherwise very slippery conditions.
