Fun Things to Make In Class

  • Handmade Play-Doh

    • Handmade Play-Doh can be created with materials that are found in a typical kitchen pantry. Combine two cups of flour, one cup of salt and one cup of water in a large bowl. Mix well, and add in four to five drops of food coloring. Mix well again. Separate the play dough into balls and store in plastic baggies until use.

    Paper Bag Puppets

    • Basic paper sandwich bags can be transformed into whimsical hand puppets by adding a few craft materials. Color the bottom flap of the bag to look like a face, and color the area that the bottom folds against to look like the inside of a mouth. Glue on googly eyes, felt shapes and yarn to act as the eyes, hair and clothing details. Allow the glue to dry before using the paper bag puppet.

    Crayon Sun Catchers

    • A beautiful sun catcher can be created from two sheets of waxed paper, a cheese grater, crayons and an iron. Place a sheet of waxed paper with the waxed side facing up on an ironing board. Shave crayons onto the waxed paper using a cheese grater. Place a second sheet of waxed paper onto the crayon shavings with the waxed side facing down. Iron the top of the paper until the wax inside the two sheets melts. Allow the papers and melted crayon to cool completely, then punch a hole onto the top with a single hole punch. Tie a piece of yarn through the hole, and hang the sun catcher up in a window to enjoy.
