How to Assemble a Z3 Headlight

If your BMW Z3's headlights are broken or damaged, you can install new ones on the car yourself. Unlike many vehicles, the Z3 features a front end that makes installing replacement headlights a straightforward task since no extraneous parts need to removed, such as the grill, bumper or turn signals. For this reason, expect the entire process to take about an hour for both headlights.
    • 1

Turn off your BMW Z3 if it was on. Prop open the hood with the hood support rod.

    • 2

Disconnect the wiring harness from the rear of the headlight assembly.

    • 3

Remove the two bolts on top of the headlight assembly near the front.

    • 4

Remove the two bolts through the sheet metal on the rear of the top of the headlight assembly using your socket wrench and extension.

    • 5

Pull the headlight assembly off of the headlight mounting bracket.

    • 6

Set the replacement headlight on the mounting bracket in the same fashion the previous headlight was set. Secure it with the four bolts and plug in the wiring harness.
