How to Change the Lock Mechanism on a 1995 Monte Carlo

The lock mechanism located in the door of the 1995 Monte Carlo is attached to the door from inside. To change the lock, you must remove the inner door panel from the car. The only time you should change the lock is if you lose the key, the key wears out, or the key breaks off inside the lock. All of these issues can prevent you from being able to secure your Monte Carlo and any belongings inside.

Open the door of your Monte Carlo and wedge a flat-head screwdriver between the bottom corner of the door and the inner door panel. Pull up on the screwdriver to pop the clips out of the door. Pull on the door panel as you work your way around the door until the panel pops completely off.
