Click the "Start" button and then click the "Control Panel" option. Select the "System and Security" option.

Click the "Administrative Tools" option and then double-click the "System Configuration" option. Enter your administrator password, if prompted.

Select the "Start" tab and a list of startup programs will appear. Click on the box next to any program to deselect it and disable it from being a startup program.

Click on an empty box next to a program to add a check mark and the program will be enabled as a startup program.

Click the "Apply" button to save the changes and then click the "OK" button to close out of the System Configuration window.

How to Change Startup Items in Windows
When you start your computer there are some programs that automatically start running after you've logged in to your desktop. With the Windows 7 operating system installed on your computer you can control what programs open in the startup by using the System Configuration settings. When viewing the list of startup programs, you can determine which applications you want to enable as startup programs and which ones you want disabled.
