How to Convert M^3 to FT^3

Both the metric, or SI, system of units and the English system of units contain volumetric measurement units that are the cube of a distance unit. These include cubic meters -- abbreviated m^3 -- in the metric system and cubic feet -- abbreviated ft^3 -- in the English system. If you know a volumetric measurement in cubic meters but need to work in the English system of units, a single conversion factor enables you to find the equivalent volume in cubic feet.

Set up the unit conversion so that the units cancel out properly. Write the number of meters followed by "m^3," multiplied by 1 ft^3 divided by 0.028 m^3. For example, if you are converting 5 m^3, write 5m^3 * 1 ft^3 / 0.028 m^3.

Perform the multiplication using a calculator. The m^3 in the numerator and the m^3 in the denominator cancel out during multiplication, leaving you with ft^3.

    • 3

Record the result of the conversion. Write down the number you obtained by multiplying followed by "ft^3." For example, 5 m^3 converts to 178.57 ft^3.
