Select Your Email Address
- 1
Decide what name you want to use for your main email address and add it to your domain host's mail service. This can be your first name, last name, or any other name you wish.
- 2
Add "postmaster" and "info" as email addresses for your site as well. This is because many email services used by your friends and clients require either of those names as active email addresses before they will process your email.
- 3
Use your web host's tools to forward both the postmaster and info email accounts to your main email account. This will let you monitor your email more easily.
Access Mail From the Web
- 1
Decide on which web email program provided by your domain host is best suited for your needs.
- 2
Select a unique password that is also memorable for you. Many domain hosts require you to select a password containing a combination of letters and numbers, with at least one capital letter. For security reasons, you should use such a password even if it is not required by the domain host.
- 3
Open the web mail web page on your browser and send yourself a test email to ensure that you have configured it properly.
Access Mail From Your Computer
- 1
Open your email program on your computer and select "New Account" to add your new email address and begin configuring your email program according to the instructions specified by your web host provider.
- 2
Configure your incoming mail for your new email address with POP3, IMAP, or HTTP depending on your web host provider's instructions.
- 3
Configure your outgoing mail settings according to your web host provider's instructions. Most mail servers today use SMTP, and will require password authentication to connect to your mail. You may or may not be required to select the "Secure Password Authentication" option.
- 4
Verify which Port Setting your web server requires in order to connect to it in order to send mail to your web host's server. If none is specified, use the default option suggested by your email software.
- 5
Send yourself a test email from your computer's email program to ensure that you have configured it properly.
