How to Glue & Seal a Vanity Sink

Properly glue a vanity sink to provide a long-lasting seal between the sink and the cabinet below it. The order in which you install and glue the sink can make a difference in the ease of this installation.

Applying The Glue

• Run a 3/8-inch bead of silicone caulk along the top edges of the vanity. Lower the sink into place on top of the cabinet. Lift the sink and lower the sink back down into place atop the vanity.

Pre-Glue Considerations

• It is a good idea to install the faucet and the drain assembly into the sink before gluing the sink onto the vanity. Attach the supply tubes to the faucet beforehand, which is easier than crawling beneath the sink with a wrench after the sink is installed.

Caulking Backsplash

• Run a bead of silicone caulk along the backsplash behind the sink. Choose a color of caulk that complements the sink, backsplash, and wall colors. Run a bead along the side splash, also. Wet a finger and run your finger along the bead of caulk, smoothing it out. Allow the caulk sufficient time to dry, following the manufacturer's instructions, before using the sink.
