How to Increase the Line-in Volume

Line-in on a Windows 7 computer refers to the light green audio port on the rear of the PC. Devices that plug into this port include video game systems and stereos. It allows the audio from the external device to be processed by the PC's sound card. Audio is then emitted from the computer's speakers.

      Click the "Start" button located in the lower left hand corner of the Windows desktop and click "Control Panel."

      Double-click the "Sound and Audio Devices" icon in the Control Panel to open the sound and audio devices properties window.

      Click the "Volume" tab and the "Advanced" button. The volume control window comes into view.

      Raise the slider under the "Line-in" heading to increase the line-in volume.
