How to Install Active Shield

Active Shield is a security program that protects your computer from viruses and other threats. To install Active Shield you must download and install one of McAfee's security programs. Once you begin the installation of a McAfee program, Active Shield is installed automatically as a part of the overall installation process.

  Navigate to the official McAfee website and order McAfee Antivirus Plus, McAfee Internet Security or McAfee Total Protection. You can either download the program either directly from the website, or order a CD of the program that is mailed to you.

  Click "Buy Now" when you have chosen a program and fill out personal and payment information when prompted, then click "submit order."

  Click the installation file after the program has finished downloading to your computer, or insert the installation CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive and wait for the installation program to launch.

  Follow the on-screen instructions, including entering in your product key when prompted. Restart the computer for the installation to take effect.
