How to Install Cargo Tie Downs

Cargo tie downs ensure that your cargo can safely be stacked and stored on your trailer and will not come loose during transport. The simplest tie down to install is a d-ring style tie down because its assembly uses screws instead of requiring welding. When installing tie downs, always screw the tie downs directly into the trailer's metal instead of wood. This ensures a tight hold that will not rot away.

Pick the locations for the tie downs on the trailer. Location will always depend on what you typically carry on the trailer.

Place the d-ring into position and place a drop of lubricant oil where you will be placing the screw.

Screw the metal screw into the trailer floor with a power drill. You'll need to press very hard on the drill while the screw is etching its way through the metal.

Repeat this process for each tie down.
