How to Keep Room Dividers From Falling Down

Room dividers are screens that fold up and can be used to make one large room into two or more smaller, separate rooms. Using a room divider will make your space feel larger while also shielding an area of the room from guests. However, unless room dividers are balanced just right, they might fall over if a breeze comes through the room or someone accidentally hits them. Luckily, there are easy ways to anchor the room dividers to keep them from falling over.

Run the stud finder along the wall to find a stud. A light will blink or the stud finder may sound when a stud is found; follow your model's instructions. This is where the wall is the strongest, and where you should attach the room divider to the wall. Mark the stud's location with a pencil.

Attach the metal hinge into the wall where the stud is located using the drill. (Make sure that the design of the hinge matches the other design of the room.)

Place the room divider next to the hinge. Use a screwdriver to drill the opposite end of the hinge into the room divider.

Use another hinge lower or higher than the previous hinge, also on a stud, in order to anchor the room divider even more. The more hinges you add, the less of a chance the divider has of falling down. Two or three hinges should suffice, however.
