- 1
Spread the chain out on the ground with the flat side up; look for a tab that says "TIRE SIDE."
- 2
Slide the chains around the back side of the tire, such that the center opening of the chain straddles the bottom of the tire with the open side toward the exterior, where it is more easily accessible.
- 3
Grip the opposite ends of the tire chain and drape them up and over the tire.
- 4
Clip the back ends of the chain, which are positioned behind the tire, together using the hook. If you are holding both back ends of the chain, the hook will be in your left hand.
- 5
Thread the bushing end of the left-side, forward cable into the black keyhole fastener, located on the end of the right-side, forward chain. Do the same on the bottom opening, which you positioned around the bottom of the tire earlier.
- 6
Attach the elastic tensioner to take up any slack, by clipping hooks onto the exterior chains at opposing angles. There are six hooks in total; arrange them evenly, so that the hook at 12 o'clock attaches at the six o'clock position, the hook at two o'clock attaches at 8 o'clock and the hook at four o'clock attaches at 10 o'clock.

How to Put on Shur Grip Tire Chains
Mud and snow can degrade the grip of your tires, resulting in dangerous driving conditions. To compensate for a reduction in traction, you can install tire chains onto your vehicle's tires. Available in a variety of configurations, tire chains lay over a tire's tread to help it bite better into slick terrain. Shur Grip Z tire chains use an elastic tensioner for ease of installation.
