How to Reheat a Spiral Ham

Spiral hams are fully cooked before they are sliced in a spiral and packaged for sale. Although you can eat a spiral ham cold as part of a meal or on sandwiches, you might want to reheat the spiral ham and serve it hot, as is common with a holiday meal. When reheating the spiral ham, pay attention to keeping the ham moist because sliced ham is prone to drying out while being reheated.
    • 1

Defrost the ham if it was frozen.

    • 2

Read the label of the spiral ham. If it contains a USDA inspection seal of approval, it only needs to be heated to 140 degrees. If not, it must be heated to 165 degrees to be safe to eat. If you have already served the ham once and are reheating leftovers, you must heat the ham to 165 degrees.

    • 3

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 4

Remove the spiral ham from its packaging.

    • 5

Wrap the ham in aluminum foil, taking care to seal all openings to keep the moisture from escaping while you are reheating the ham.

    • 6

Set the foil-covered ham in a baking dish.

    • 7

Place the ham in the oven and heat it for 10 minutes per pound, or 12 minutes per pound for a ham that must reach 165 degrees.

    • 8

Check the internal temperature of the ham with a meat thermometer. If it has not reached 140 degrees, or 165 degrees in the case of spiral ham leftovers, return it to the oven and check the temperature again every five minutes.
