How to Remove an Apple Quicksilver Panel

Apple introduced the Quicksilver model tower computer in 2002. It is a Power Macintosh system, based on the Power PC G4 processor. The Quicksilver has a unique latch on the side that allows for easy access. If you open the latch and access the interior, you can repair or replace various system components. The side panel on the Apple G4 Quicksilver is designed to allow users access for upgrades and repairs to the system.

Turn off the computer, using the "Shut Down" option from the Apple Menu in the upper-left corner.

    • 2

Wait for five or 10 minutes, then touch the metal covers on the back of the computer to discharge any static electricity.

    • 3

Unplug the computer from the wall.

    • 4

Lift the circular latch on the left side of the computer. The latch is halfway between the front and back of the system, near the top.

Gently lower the side panel. Prepare a clean, flat, padded surface, such as a towel, on which you can lay the panel; this will protect it from damage.
