How to Report Someone Who Is Cheating on Their Disability Payments

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is the part of Social Security that pays disability benefits. According to the Social Security Administration's Monthly Statistical Snapshot for September 2010, there were 7,899,000 Americans receiving SSI disability benefits. The average monthly benefit was $498, and the total amount disbursed was about $4.2 billion. However, fraudulent claims of benefits are a major problem throughout the Social Security program. According the the White House, improper Social Security payments of all kinds --- from criminal fraud to clerical errors --- reached a total of $110 billion in 2009.
