Emailing from UNIX to an outside email address, like Lotus Notes

Type "Mail typeemailaddress@lotusnotes.com." Type the full email address of the recipient on Lotus Notes. Press "Enter."

"Subject" will appear. Here you enter a subject heading for your email. "Subject" identifies the subject of your email message. If you want to write a subject heading, type it and press "Enter." If you don't need or want a subject heading, don't type anything and press "Enter."

Next, "CC" will appear. "CC" means carbon copy. In this prompt, if you would like to carbon copy someone on your email message, type his/her email address and press "Enter." If you don't want to carbon copy anyone, don't type anything and press "Enter."

Type your complete message. Press "Enter" at the end of each line. If you don't press "Enter," your computer will lock up after 256 keystrokes and you will not be able to continue writing your message. Press "Enter" to come to your next line.

In this blank line, type "s." This saves your email message in a file. You must issue the save command (s), followed by the numbers of the message you wish to save and the name of the file you wish to save them in. For example, "s message_list filename (2)." Press "Enter."

Type "=shell_command" to send or deliver your message. Your email is complete and sent.
