How to Share an External HD

You can share the contents of an external hard drive with other computers on your network. If you work from multiple computers on your network or you want to enable multiple people to view and edit documents on the hard drive, follow a few steps to allow that to happen.

  Connect the external hard drive to your computer.

  Right-click the "Start" button and select the "Open Windows Explorer" option.

  Right-click the hard disk that you want to share, click "Properties" and open the "Sharing" tab.

  Click the "Advanced Sharing..." button and check the "Share this folder" option.

  Click "OK" two times and the hard drive is shared.
