How to Troubleshoot a Xerox 7328

The Xerox WorkCentre 7328 comes with the ability to produce not only copies but also print jobs from networked computers. Optionally, the WorkCentre 7328 can come with equipment that allows the device to scan original documents for electronic storage, or to email those documents as an attachment as well as send and receive faxes of original documents. Xerox says the device has a recommended maximum monthly print and copy volume of 80,000 pages. If you do experience problems with the device, troubleshoot the problem so you can get the machine up and running as soon as possible.
  • Single Color Lines in Copies or Printouts

    • 1

Use an Image Quality Kit to determine the source of the errant lines. If you do not have an Image Quality Kit, you can purchase one from your local Xerox technician.

    • 2

Examine the placard showing different copy or print defects to find a match to the problem your WorkCentre 7328 has been experiencing. Also use the measurement tool in the kit to determine if the lines occur at specific intervals, and if so the distance between the lines.

    • 3

Remove a new drum cartridge from its packaging once you have determined which cartridge is the source of the problem. Place the cartridge on a piece of paper near the machine, but do not sit the cartridge upright.

    • 4

Open the front door and lift up the lever with the "A" on it, then pull down on the handle in front of the four drum cartridges. Slide the cartridge you wish to replace out of its spot by pulling on the orange tab on the cartridge's handle.

    • 5

Put the old cartridge in the bag the new cartridge came in. Place the new cartridge in the front of the empty slot, using the arrow on the protective shielding to make sure you insert the cartridge the right way. Remove the shield by pulling off the tape on the top of the cartridge, then slide the cartridge all the way into the slot.

    • 6

Lift up on the handle in front of the cartridges to lock them into place, then push down on the lever marked with the "A." Close the device's front door securely.

    Fault Code 007-119

    • 1

Open each of the WorkCentre 7328's paper drawers that are indicated as having jams in the error message to check for any jammed paper. Pull out any jammed or damaged paper in the input drawers.

    • 2

Pinch the clamp inside each of the paper drawers, then slide the guide so that it touches the edge of the paper. Make sure the paper is not bent or bowed from the guide touching it, otherwise move the guide so the paper is flat.

    • 3

Remove the paper from the WorkCentre 7328's input drawers. Flip through the paper to make sure the sheets are not stuck together and remove any damaged paper you find.

    • 4

Replace the paper in the machine with paper from an unopened ream. The old paper could have been defective or have been affected by humidity or other environmental factors.
