How to Turn Off Notifications on an HP 5580 Printer

Periodically, notification balloons relating to your HP 5580 printer will appear on your desktop. These may happen whenever a new job is sent to the printer or whenever the unit has finished printing a document, depending on your current settings. You can turn off these notifications by editing the properties of the program that controls them, called the "Notification Area Icons" utility in the Control Panel.

  Click the drop-down menu next to your HP 5580 printer icon in this screen. Depending on the number of notifications on your computer, you may have to scroll through the list until you find the proper listing for the HP 5580.
