Turn the camera on for the first time and you will be asked to set the date and time. Press up and down to change each attribute and then right or left to cycle through the options. Press "OK" when you are done.

Turn the "Mode" dial (on the right) until you get to the camera icon. This is "Auto" mode. Press the shutter halfway down to focus. Press the shutter all the way to take a picture.

Turn the "Mode" dial to the video camera icon. Press the shutter. You are now recording a movie. Press the shutter again to stop recording.

Press the "Play" button icon to view your images.

Insert the installation disk into your computer. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete setup of the software. Connect your camera with a USB cable to a USB port on your computer. Click to open the files with the Canon PowerShot software. Click "Download Images" in the software to download images to your hard drive.
