Take your Nuvi 760 outside and plug it into your vehicle's power source. Turn on your device.

Wait for the GPS device to find the satellite signal and pinpoint your location. You will know the process is complete when you see your current location on the "View Map" screen. It could take several minutes.

Enter the location you wish to travel to by touching "Where To" from the main screen. You then have several options. Touch "Address" to enter an exact address. Touch "Points of Interest" to find a location from a list of categories, such as "restaurant" or "hospital." You can also touch "Spell Name" to spell the name of a business or location. Or touch "Favorites" to choose a location that you have saved in the address book of your Nuvi 760.

Verify that the location you entered is correct. Then touch "Go!" Your first direction will come up on the map screen. Once you complete that direction, the next one will appear.

Touch "Menu" to enter a detour in your route, such as finding a gas station. Touch the "Detour" option and enter the location using one of the methods described in Step 3. Touch "Go!" after you verify the location entered is correct.

The Garmin Nuvi 760 is part of the Garmin 700 series. The main purpose of this device is to give you directions from one place to another while you're driving a motor vehicle on the road. Once your GPS device finds your current location via satellite signal, it will start giving step-by-step instructions to the location or address that you entered. There is a specific process that Garmin recommends following to use your Nuvi 760.
