Printer Command Language (PCL) is a page description language developed by HP to be used with its printers. The HP 2430 is compatible with HP PCL 6, HP PCL 5e and HP Postscript Level 3 emulation. It also supports direct PDF printing version 1.3 as long as there is at least 128 MB of printer memory.

The HP 2430 has a maximum input capacity of 850 sheets and a maximum output capacity of 250 sheets. Up to three printer trays can be installed, and the printer supports a wide range of media types, including transparencies, labels, envelopes, cardstock and most types of paper.
