Halloween is all about getting dressed up, eating ridiculous amounts of candy and all things spooky for most. Throw a Halloween shindig for your friends, or your children's friends, complete with a Halloween party favor for the guests to take home. You don't have to spend a lot on the favors, or be real elaborate, for the guests to enjoy them.
Pumpkins
-
A popular Halloween tradition is to carve pumpkins with faces or Halloween-related images. Give the guests at your Halloween party one of the major items they need to start celebrating this tradition themselves -- a pumpkin. Send each guest home with their very own pumpkin, or have guests carve pumpkins at your party, as part of the entertainment, for them to take home as favors. You can hand pick the pumpkins at a patch if you have enough time before the party to make the extra trip, or you can pick up pumpkins from your local grocery store while you are purchasing snacks for the party. Pick up miniature pumpkins for a children's Halloween party. The children can draw faces on the pumpkins, rather than carving, for a safer alternative.
Carving Kits
-
Along the same lines as sending guests home with a pumpkins, you may also send adult guests or families home with carving kits. Most stores that sell Halloween costumes, decorations and candy also sell inexpensive carving kits. These kits include everything you need to carve more detailed and creative designs into the side of a pumpkin than the traditional geometric faces you may have grown up with. You can even purchase extra books with carving patterns in them. For an even less expensive alternative, purchase just the carving tools, which are usually sold separately for a smaller price, and print off some of the several carving patterns you can find for free online.
Costume Items
-
The guests at your party will probably come donning the costumes they have chosen for that year, but that doesn't mean you can't use the idea of costumes in choosing party favors. You can find several different inexpensive and fun costume items at temporary Halloween stores and in the Halloween section of department stores. Stock up on items like face paint, disguise glasses, wigs, vampire teeth and glow sticks to make little costume goody bags to hand out to guests. These little items can be used year round for pranks or dress up. The costume items may also be stored away to be used next Halloween.
