Valentine's Day is all about letting your loved ones, especially your significant other, know how much you care. Take the stress out of Valentine's Day if you're working with a limited budget by getting your guy something he'll enjoy without breaking the bank. Just remember that his idea of romantic and yours are probably slightly different.
Homemade Cookies
-
As long as you aren't a complete klutz in the kitchen, a batch of homemade cookies is likely to taste far better than any store-bought variety. Whip up a batch or two of homemade cookies for the special guy in your life to satisfy his sweet tooth. Whole cookbooks are filled with cookie recipes, so you'll have no trouble finding a cookie to make to match his tastes, whether he's a chocolate lover or a big fan of nuts. Maybe he doesn't like chunks of any kind in his cookies, in which case you can make him a batch of sugar cookies or snickerdoodles. Place the cookies on a decorative plate from the dollar store, wrap them in plastic wrap and tie them up with a bow.
Tools
-
Sure, that top-of-the-line circular saw might be out of your budget, but you don't have to break the bank to get the handyman in your life something he can use to fix and build things. Pick up a simple screwdriver, hammer or any other small tool that may need replacing in his collection. A tool may not be the most romantic gift you can give for Valentine's Day, but most men are all about practicality and a tool is definitely practical. Attach a sweet little note to the tool telling him how much you appreciate all the odd jobs he does around the house and how you admire his skills.
A Day Together
-
Plan a day together, just the two of you, that features an activity and a meal that are more to his tastes. Spend the day fishing, drinking beer and eating cold cut sandwiches, if his idea of an ideal day is one spent in nature. Take him to a local sporting event, such as an inexpensive college or minor league game filled with stadium food, if he's an avid sports fan. Maybe his idea of a good time is staying at home and eating dinner in front of the television. Whatever it is he likes to do but rarely gets a chance to enjoy, that's the perfect gift for him, especially if he's the type who usually caters to your wishes.
