Warm Water
-
Under various experiments, warm to hot water has increased the elasticity of a rubber band. When the band was submerged, the band stretched further than without the aid of the warm water. The heat from the water allows the band to stretch further without breaking.
Motor Oil
-
Motor oil changes the elasticity of robber bands for completely different reasons. With motor oil, the oil seeps inside the band, causing a different combination of elements. The oil serves as a lubricant and allows the band to stretch further.
Cold Water
-
Cold water does not appear to have any effect on rubber bands. In experiments, cold water did not increase or decrease the flexibility or elasticity of the rubber bands.
