Nintendo Wii Service Issues

  The Nintendo Wii video game console comes packaged with several wireless accessories, in addition to software and connection cables. Because of this high volume of features, there are a variety of service issues that may arise for consumers. However, according to Nintendo customer support, the most common problems can often be solved through simple troubleshooting.

Wii Remote

• If the Wii remote or onscreen cursor are not responding properly, first hold the remote with the buttons facing the floor and, with a small amount of force, tap the button side with your palm. If this fails to address the issue, you should first check the batteries, then the Wii sensor bar to make sure it's firmly plugged into the back of the console. If so, check to see whether there are any objects in the way of the sensor --- this includes sources of infrared light, like candles, a fireplace or a stove, which can disrupt the sensor.

Power

• If the Wii console is unable to power on despite being plugged into a power source, try resetting the Wii's AC adapter. According to Nintendo, most power issues can be resolved via this method. First, unplug the adapter from both your power strip or wall outlet and the Wii console itself. Leave the adapter unplugged for at least two full minutes. Then, plug the adapter directly into a wall outlet. If the light on the adapter comes on, the reset was successful.

Display

• If the screen is blank after you've powered on the Wii console and the power light is either green or orange, power the system down by holding in the power button for 10 seconds. If this fails to shut down the console, simply unplug the AC adapter. Now, turn the console back on and the issue should be resolved. If you can see the screen, but the picture is out of alignment, simply access the Wii system settings from the console's main menu, then choose "screen." Then select "screen position," and use your remote to adjust the picture.

Saving

• If you receive an error message such as "Insufficient free space..." or "Insufficient number of free files..." this means your Wii System Memory is full and you will need to create space. Go to the Wii home screen and choose "Data Management." From here, simply select any unwanted files and choose "delete" to free up memory.
