Plexiglass Specifications

    • Plexiglass is a lightweight thermoplastic that is transparent and weather resistant. Plexiglas is often used in place of glass for projects requiring strength and durability. Unlike glass it does not require specialized tools or knowledge to cut or drill through.

    Size

    • Plexiglass can be cut to almost any desired size, ranging from 1/16 inches to 4 inches thick.

    Durability

    • The plexiglass can withstand outdoor weather conditions for extended periods. With six to 17 times greater impact resistance than glass it is often used on tables or windows needing impact protection. In addition the plexiglass can withstand exposure to certain chemicals such as ammonia and sulfuric acid. Though the use of gasoline, acetone, chlorinated hydrocarbons, ethyl and methyl acid and organic acids will damage the finish and compromise the integrity of the plexiglass.

    Assembly

    • Plexiglass can be sawed, cut and drilled like wood. With the application of heat, the plexiglass can also be molded into almost any shape.
