Solar Energy Certification

The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners was designed to raise solar energy industry standards. NABCEP offers certification and certificate programs to professionals in the renewable energy field in North America.

Purpose

• Solar energy certification accomplishes three goals: provide protection to the public by establishing a credential for judging the competency of solar energy professionals, provide solar energy practitioners a way to distinguish themselves from competitors, and improve the quality and public perception of the industry.

Candidates

  According to NABCEP, the ideal candidate for solar power installer certification is the person responsible for system installations. Applicants can be contractors, job foreman, supervisors and journeymen.

College Courses

• Many universities and colleges, such as the Allied American University, offer certificates in solar energy. According to AAU, professionals in the fields of real estate, construction, architecture and engineering can benefit from solar energy certification programs.
