Wii Serving Hints

    • Serving up a powerful ball on the Wii can be a bit tricky at the start, but once you've mastered it you'll be a powerful force on the digital courts of "Wii Sports" Tennis. It is easy to learn how, so get practicing so you can impress your friends and family with your ability to consistently serve like a champ.

    The Basics

    • To serve in "Wii Sports," press "A" on the Wii Remote or quickly move the Remote up to mimic the motion of tossing a ball in the air. This will cause your character to throw the ball into the air. While the ball is in the air, swing the Wii Remote as if it were a tennis racket to finish the serve.

    Powerful Serve

    • If the speed of your serve is lacking in zest, get the hang of the strongest serve in the game. In order to serve up this speedy move, you must swing the Remote when the ball is at the very height of its ascent after tossing it in the air. You can toss the ball into the air as many times as you like without swinging. Watch closely to see when it is at the highest and be prepared to swing at this moment. If it's done properly, the ball will light up and launch rapidly toward your opponent.

    Returning a Power Serve

    • It is important to know how to counter a power serve since your opponents may also know how to hit you with it. The only real trick is to be ready to return at a moment's notice. When you see your opponent get ready to serve, be watchful. As soon as you see that lit-up, speedy ball coming toward you, swing. Your Mii character will, ideally, lunge for the ball and return it. The serve moves so quickly that any hesitation will cause your opponent's serve to be successful.
