How to Balance the Bass in a Car Sound System to the Subwoofers

Many audio enthusiasts want to get the best bass response out of their car stereo system. But because there are many different types of car audio systems, some simple and some elaborate, there isn't a single best way to go about it. By starting with the simplest fixes, you can move on to more elaborate solutions. Depending on your system, you may not be able to do all of these steps, but try the ones that work for you.

  Boost the bass in the tone control of your stereo. If you have a single tone control, turn it to the left. If you have dual controls, one for treble and one for bass, turn up the bass control.

  Set the fade control of your stereo toward the rear. Subwoofers are usually located in the back of the vehicle, and this will direct more sound energy that way.

  Set the crossover frequency of your amplifier to 120 Hz. This will direct more sound energy toward your subwoofer.

  Turn up the gain control on your subwoofer amplifier to the maximum degree you can without distorting the sound.
