Keep your finger off the phone antenna. Mostly, cell phone antennas are located on the top of the phone, so make it a habit to hold the phone from the base. If you cover the antenna with your hands, the phone will not be able to catch signals and thus will decrease the signal strength.

Change your position while you're on the phone. You don't know where the network carrier's base station antenna may be located. To get your phone to the best reception point, rotate your body and keep looking at the phone's signal bar. Stop where you find the best position.

Don't stand or sit close to a piece of metal, especially any big steel structure. Metal can interfere with cell phone signals.
- 4
Keep your phone fully charged. Some phones deliberately weaken the signal to get the battery to last longer.
- 5
Move to an open space while talking on the phone. If you are inside a building, move toward an open window. An obstruction of any kind is the worst enemy of cell phone reception.

Buy a power booster (also called an amplifier) plug for your cell phone. These power boosters can be attached to any electrical outlet or a car cigarette lighter for amplifying the cell phone signal. However, they affect a cell phone's mobility since you will have to plug a cord into the outlet to get better reception.
