How to Burn Movies That Are Larger Than 4.7 Gigabytes

If you want to burn a movie onto a DVD and the movie file is larger than 4.7GB in size, you can use a dual layer disc to complete this process. Instead of having a maximum capacity of 4.7GB, dual layer discs can store double that amount of information. The only catch is that your computer's burner must be capable of burning dual layer media (not all are), and the disc that you're using must actually be of the dual layer variety.

Check to make sure that your DVD burner and blank DVD are both of the dual layer variety. If your burner is capable of burning dual layer discs, the "DVD DL" logo will be on the front of it. Likewise, if your blank DVD is a DVD DL disc the "DVD DL" logo will either be on the disc's label or on the package the disc came in.
