How to Cures for Cracked Heals

If you suffer from cracked heels you will notice fine lines, flaking and peeling skin present on the bottom of your feet. Cracked heels have a rough, callused texture that is sometimes painful and uncomfortable. When the feet undergo routine dryness, friction and pressure, calluses (thickened skin) develop to protect skin from injury. Prevent cracked heels from developing by wearing properly sized socks and shoes. If footwear is too tight or too loose, feet will repeatedly slide or rub against the shoe.

Soak your feet in warm, soapy water for 10 minutes. This will help loosen thickened skin on your heels.

Use a pumice stone to smooth away dead skin cells and calluses from the heels of your feet. A pumice stone is safe to use on both dry or wet feet.

Apply a moisturizer to your feet after bathing. Cream moisturizers will keep your feet soft and smooth.

    • 4

Place over-the-counter foot inserts inside your shoes. Foot inserts offer additional padding to support your heels as they recover.

Wear comfortable socks and shoes until your heels return to normal. Choose well-cushioned shoes that aren't too big or too small.
