How to Make Money Sending Postcards

Postcards are a form of direct mail that can be used to promote a certain product or service that you have in order to make money. Many businesses use this advertising tactic to promote sales and generate interest among consumers, but almost anyone can send postcards to make money. To have success, you need to align a product or service to match the needs or wants of a certain group of people and evaluate your advertising campaign after the postcards have been sent out to determine what you could do differently to improve.

Go online to NextMark, BuyerZone or another mailing list vendor. Search for and select a target group of buyers to which you want to send out postcards. Purchase the mailing list of names and addresses.

Go to an affiliate marketplace website like ClickBank, PayDotCom or Click2Sell. Filter the affiliate marketplace listings to the niche or category that matches the interests of the target group of people you've selected for the mailing list. Review the sales pages for each product and select an affiliate product based on the quality of the sales letter and if it appears to be an attractive product that will convince people to buy. Look at the statistical data of the product, including conversion statistics and the number of affiliates who have had success promoting the product. Sign up as an affiliate of the product and obtain your special affiliate link.

Purchase a domain name from GoDaddy, Register.com, Host Gator or another domain name registering service. Select a domain name that contains key words or phrases relevant to the affiliate product for which you want to promote. Go into the domain management section of your account. Set the domain name you purchased to be forwarded to the URL of your special affiliate link that contains the sales page for the product you're promoting.

Open an image or graphics editing program and design the postcard you want to send. Set the size of the template design to the standard four inch by six inch postcard size. Type an attractive headline on the postcard and use bold or bright colors to make it stand out. Place the URL of the domain you've purchased and forwarded on the postcard. Write a "call to action" to encourage people to visit the website.

Take your postcard design and mailing list to a local printing business. Order postcards from the printer that contain your design and the names and addresses from your mailing list. Take your postcards to the post office and pay for postage to mail them. Alternatively, upload your postcard design and mailing list to an online service like Click2Mail, Vistaprint or PremiumPostcard and pay for the creation and delivery of your postcard.

Monitor your postcard mailing campaign. Log in to your account with the affiliate marketplace or product to which you've signed up and look for the number of sales you've made. Track your affiliate sales and commissions over the next several days and weeks to determine the success of your postcard campaign.
