How to Wire a Pioneer DEH-11E Receiver

Pioneer's DEH-11E CD-receiver features a removable faceplate, front auxiliary input and single-DIN design, making for a simple installation. The only rear connectors on the unit are the two mono output ports for a powered amp, the antenna input jack and the harness connection port. With the proper guidance, you can wire the harness and install the stereo.
    • 1

Disconnect your vehicle's battery by removing the negative cable from the negative terminal.

    • 2

Mark each of the wires coming out of your vehicle stereo's current wiring harness with masking tape and a Sharpie marker. Consult the User's Manual for your current stereo to determine which colored wire corresponds to which speaker or power connection.

    • 3

Cut out the old stereo wiring harness from your vehicle. Cut the wires about two inches away from the harness. Strip a half-inch of insulation from the end of each wire.

    • 4

Solder the yellow wire from the new wiring harness to your vehicle's constant 12V wire. Solder the new harnesses red wire to the vehicle's switched 12V wire. Connect the black wire to the vehicle's chassis or solder it to the ground wire from the old stereo. Cover all of the connections with heat-shrink tubing.

    • 5

Solder the new harness wires to the corresponding original wires: white and white/black to the front-left speaker's positive and negative terminals; gray and gray/black to the front-right speaker; green and green/black to the rear-left speaker; and violet and violet/black to the rear-right speaker. Cover all of the connections with heat-shrink tubing.

Connect the paired blue/white wires to the system control terminal of your vehicle's powered amp or antenna relay control, if equipped.

    • 7

Connect the receiver to your vehicle's powered amp using the RCA connection port on the back of the receiver, if your vehicle has a powered amp.

    • 8

Plug your vehicle's antenna plug into the antenna jack on the back of the receiver.

    • 9

Mount the receiver in your vehicle's single-DIN slot using a mounting kit for your vehicle.

    • 10

      Reconnect your vehicle's battery.
