How Turn Off the Axim X51v

The Dell Axim X51v was one of the early entrants into the Personal Data assistant or PDA market, with capabilities similar to those found on today's smart phones. Battery life was an issue with these devices, as the Axim needed to be turned off to save power. You can put it into standby mode, or power it off completely.

  Press the power button located at the top-center of the device and hold it to dim the screen. If you hold it long enough, the screen will completely turn off, but the unit is still powered on. Press and hold the button again to re-brighten the screen.

  Use your finger or the included stylus to tap the "Start" icon on the screen. Tap "Settings" > "Systems Tab" > "Power" and finally "Power Button."

  Select the "Full Power Off" option to change the operation of the power button.

  Back out of the menu to the "Start" screen. Press and hold the start button for a few seconds. The unit should now go into shutdown mode.
