Yogurt Makers Similar to the EasiYo

    • Yogurt is healthy, delicious and filling -- especially if it's fresh. yogurt image by Renato Francia from Fotolia.com

Yogurt is a filling breakfast and a satisfying snack long-touted for its health benefits. The health benefits of yogurt, though, come from its live cultures, which only stay live for a few days after the yogurt has been made. Making your own yogurt can ensure that you get the maximum health benefits -- and freshest taste -- that yogurt can offer. The EasiYo is unique in that it uses boiling water and insulation, not electricity, to heat yogurt, but there are a variety of great electric options out there for yogurt makers.

    Salton Yogurt Maker YM9

    • At about $25, the Salton Yogurt Maker is in the same price-range as the EasiYo. It makes a quart-sized tub of yogurt at a time and comes with a timer, which you set according to the length of time you want your yogurt to ferment.

    Williams-Sonoma Automatic Yogurt Maker

    • The Williams-Sonoma Automatic Yogurt Maker runs about $60. It has digital controls that customize yogurt fermentation times, sounding an alarm when the yogurt is finished. It makes seven reusable 6-ounce jars of yogurt at a time and includes instructions for how to make Greek, fruit-flavored and other yogurts.

    Cuisipro Donvier Electronic Yogurt Maker

    • This yogurt maker goes for about $50 and is similar to the Williams-Sonoma model in that it makes yogurt in separate jars. However, unlike that model, it is pre-programmed to heat the yogurt to the correct temperature, so there are fewer dials to fiddle with.

    Yogourmet Electric Yogurt Maker

    • This model is similar to the EasiYo in that is a simple canister without too many dials and knobs. It costs about $50 and makes 2 quarts of yogurt at a time in a tub that comes with a seal-tight top that makes it easy to store.
