1995 Mercury Cougar Performance

Ford introduced the Mercury Cougar in 1967. The first Cougars had V8 engines and were marketed as luxury vehicles. The Cougar went through many changes during its production run, which ended in 2002. Ford produced the 1995 Mercury Cougar as an XR7 coupe.
  • Engine and Performance

    • A 3.8-liter V6 engine powered the base 1995 Mercury Cougar. The engine produced 205 horsepower and 265 ft-lbs. of torque. Mercury also offered an optional 4.6-liter V8 engine that churned out 210 horsepower and 270 ft-lbs. of torque. The 1995 Mercury Cougar came with a standard four-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

    Safety

    • The 1995 Cougar received five-star ratings in passenger and driver crash tests by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It had standard driver and passenger front airbags and offered optional features like anti-lock brakes (ABS) and traction control.

    Fuel Economy

    • The 1995 Mercury Cougar had a 18-gallon fuel tank. This coupe got an estimated 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. Unleaded gasoline powered the vehicle.
