2003 ZO6 Specs

• Chevrolet created the Corvette Z06 in 2003 in celebration of the Corvette's 50th anniversary. It featured a major increase on the previous Corvette's horsepower, going from 350 to 405 horsepower. The sports car came in a red exterior anniversary edition, on top of its normal choice of paint.

Power

• The Corvette can reach 405 horsepower at a rate of 6,000 rpm and max torque of 400 pound-feet at 4,800 rpm thanks to a type-90 V-8 1.5-gallon engine placed in the front of the chassis. It also goes from zero to 60 mph in 12.8 seconds. The engine has an overhead valve system, with two valves per cylinder, a compression ratio of 10.5:1 and a bore and stroke of 3.90-by-3.62 inches. This is topped off with a displacement of 345.7 cubic inches and a redline--the maximum speed an engine and its components can operate at without causing internal damage--of 6,500 rpm. A six-speed transmission transmits this power down into the rear-wheel drive.

Dimensions

• A wheelbase of 104.5 inches lies below a chassis measuring 179.7-inches long, 73.6-inches wide and 47.7-inches high. The car has a front track of 62.4 inches and a back track of 62.6 inches. The wet weight--the weight of the vehicle with all of its gas, oil and other liquids included--is 3,118 lbs., and the car can hold a maximum of 18.5 gallons of fuel. Goodyear Eagle F1 SC front tires are 10.4-inches wide and fit 17-inch cast-spun aluminum front wheels. The cast-spun aluminum back wheels are 18 inches, and their corresponding tires are 11.6 inches wide.

Brakes and Suspension

• A front-and-back suspension system is made up of transverse composite leaf springs, an anti-roll bar and lower- and upper-control arms. There is an 12.6-inch vented disc brake at the front and an 11.8-inch vented disc brake at the back, with an anti-lock braking system.

Interior

• The Z06 has 37.8 inches of front headroom and 42.7 inches of legroom. It came equipped with power leather seats, windows and door locks. It also came with a radio and CD player.
