The active ingredient in Odor-Eaters is a substance called tolnaftate, according to Daily Med. Odor-Eaters is used to neutralize bad odors that come from your shoes and feet.
  • Identification

    • Tolnaftate is a medication that stops the growth of certain fungi in your shoes and feet. These fungi cause conditions like athlete's foot. Tolnaftate is also available as a topical cream to kill fungus on the skin.

    Function

    • By killing off the fungi that accumulate in your shoes, tolnaftate helps Odor-Eaters neutralize foot odor. Wearing moisture-absorbing socks and shoes with good air circulation can also cut down on unpleasant odor.

    Considerations

    • Tolnaftate is not the only ingredient in Odor Eaters. It also contains sodium bicarbonate, isobutane, alcohol and fragrances to help reduce any odors.
