Description
-
Different morning glories have slightly different flower, fruit and leaf traits, but they all produce funnel-shaped blossoms in white, red, pink, blue, purple or yellow. Most morning glory plants are fully open in the morning and close later in the day.
Bindweeds
-
Many people consider wild morning glories, called bindweeds, to be a nuisance weed that's hard to get rid of. Pulling them out of the ground results in new shoots starting to grow from buds along the roots.
Fun Facts
-
Sweet potatoes and Mexican jicama come from species of morning glory plants. Also, some morning glory species have hallucinogenic properties.
