Assembly Instructions for a Sleep Number Bed

Buying a Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed can help you get a better night's sleep from the first night you use it. This model of bed uses a special technology that allows you to adjust the firmness of both sides of the mattress using a remote control unit. While this bed will help you sleep better, it also needs to be assembled if you are purchasing a brand new model. By constructing the foundation, putting together the bed and attaching the remote unit you will be utilizing Sleep Number technology before bedtime.

Connect the side rails together. The two pieces will be labeled "A" and "B." Connect the joints of piece "A" to piece "B" until the two are joined securely. Insert a security pen into the joint to ensure the two pieces will stay connected.

Insert the end beams of the foundation into the notches on the side rails with the tabs on the top side and the textured side facing out. When the end beams are secure, insert the other support beams in the same fashion into the notches in the middle of the side rails.

Slide the four deck panels into place using the guides on the support rails. Push them into place until they are flush with the sides of the foundation. Place the coverlet over the foundation, pulling down on the corners until the black supports are covered.

Place the mattress cover on top of the foundation. Unzip the cover fully and pull back the top to expose the inside. Place each corner lock in the corner of the mattress and attach the foam border walls in place.

Put the air chambers into the bed, laying side by side. Arrange the air chambers into the bed with the hose connector on the head end of the bed facing the ground. Place the firmness control system on the ground at the head of the bed and insert the hoses into the holes according to the "L" and "R" labels. When the hoses are through the holes, connect them to the air chambers.

Plug in the power cord of the firmness control system into an open AC outlet. Press the "Inflate" button on the remote control to fill the air chambers. When they are full, the control system will turn off. Place the foam comfort pad on top of the air chambers and then zip up the mattress.
